Company Statement

The Group is the largest orange producer in the PRC. Its plantation bases occupying a total area of approximately 102,000 mu (6800 Hectares) of farmland, and currently planting a total of over 2,000,000 trees of Summer oranges and Winter oranges. The Group’s plantation bases in Hepu County Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Xinfeng County Jiangxi province in the PRC are located in similar latitudes to that of Florida of the US, which is well known for growing oranges. The temperature, solar radiation, soil, water retention and topography of the Group’s plantation bases are favorable for orange plantation.

The design and set-up Guangxi plantation bases is based on those in the US. The overall planning and the implementation of the Guangxi Plantation Base was executed by US citrus experts with a view to ensuring its standard is similar to that of a US. plantation base. Over 300,000 trees are planted as shelter belt (windbreakers) to protect the base against strong wind.

Jiangxi Plantation Base was developed in 2003. It is expected that the plantation has a capacity of planting more than 2,000,000 orange trees, making it comparable to the scale and output of Guangxi plantation base.

The Group has its in-house processing facilities, which includes warehouse, cold storage facilities and a processing center for grading, packaging and waxing of oranges.

Current Operations

Products

The Group currently cultivates and sells two types of orange, namely Winter Oranges and Summer Oranges, in the PRC.

Guangxi Plantation Base

The seeds of the Summer oranges and most of the Winter oranges grown in the Guangxi plantation base were imported from the US. The typical characteristics of Summer oranges include fewer seeds, orange coloured flesh and are typically full of golden juice with a fine rich flavour and aroma. Winter oranges are usually seedless with orange coloured fleshand can be peeled and segmented easily.

Jiangxi Plantation Base

Winter oranges are a type of orange that are quality species cultivated within the PRC. Winter oranges are seedless, larger in size than Summer oranges with reddish, smooth and thin peel.

High Productivity

It is anticipated that the total number of orange trees of the Group’s two plantation bases will grow from the current 1.6 million trees to 2.8 million trees over the next three years and that the annual yield of oranges will increase from the current 97,000 tonnes for the 11 months ended 31 May 2005 to approximately 280,000 tonnes (When all trees have reached maturity.)

Geographical Spread

The Group's Guangxi plantation base is of a similar standard to those in the US and makes use of an automated irrigation system imported from the US. Currently, the Group has over 50 sets of large machinery and over 250 sets of small machinery for fertilization, weed removal, leveling, smart pesticide spraying, hole-drilling and tracking at the two plantation bases. There is also an on-site power station at the Guangxi plantation base providing an electricity supply. The Group has its own advanced refrigerated-storage warehouse and an orange processing line. The Group's Guangxi plantation base was accredited with a quality management certification ISO9001 and the green food certification (Grade A level) from the China Green Food Development Centre. Only few orange producers in the PRC are sufficiently well equipped to obtain such certifications.

In order to ensure the quality of oranges and with a view to operating a modernized management, the Group has divided both the Guangxi plantation base and going forwards Jiangxi plantation base into certain sub-zones for management purpose. The Group has appointed supervisors to manage different sub-zones. Each supervisor is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of orange trees (e.g. irrigation, soil management, application of fertilizers, weed removing and pest controls etc.) in the sub-zone he manages. Each supervisor has to report daily to the head of the Agricultural Affairs Department ("AAD”) in respect of the condition of the orange trees in his sub-zone and AAD will keep track of all these updates.
