Food Security For Britain Means Quality Rather than Quantity

“Lions led by donkeys” is the popular phrase used to describe the military leadership during the ghastly attrition of trench warfare in the First World War. Sadly the donkeys have made yet another appearance – this time as politicians. And just as they seemed unable to assimilate facts at that time, so now. They do not seem able to comprehend that China is moving smoothly into position as the new world super power without firing a shot in anger, nor that Russia intends to have its own way in Europe through control of gas supplies. We are now in the era of economic wars, but they are wars that can cause death and destruction nonetheless.

 


The donkeys do not seem to appreciate this fact and prefer to fiddle away with our economy through the imposition of carbon taxes. Like a herd of wildebeest all politicians, from right and left, seem mesmerised by this theory. Their two basic reasons are first, that it appears to ally their interests with those of the green environmentalists and second, green taxes will increase their cash flow and allow them to ignore the fundamentals of  the economy.
