Indian Food Exports Rejected By The US

Indian food products exported to the United States are being rejected repeatedly by the US authorized agencies. The recent monthly refusal list issued by the Operational and Administrative System for Import Support (OASIS) of the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA), reveals that in the month of January 2008, Indian exports were subject to third highest number of refusal actions. The list cites 115 cases.

The report further says that in February 2008 India went to the top of the list, with 100 refusals. And in March 2008 India faced the second highest number of refusal actions, at 149 cases.

Plenty of leading Indian companies figure prominently among those subject to rejection. They include export houses like Haldiram Exports, Glaxosmithkline Consumer Healthcare Ltd, Britannia Industries Ltd, Nestle India Ltd, and Bhagawati Spices & Food Exports Ltd.
