Recession Will Unveil Cracks In The Quasi-Religion Of Global Warming

It was ironic that that the European Union’s 27 leaders met in Poznan, Poland, to endorse a 20 per cent cut in carbon dioxide emissions by 2020 as Poland generates most of its energy from coal and has not a cat’s chance in hell of ever reaching such a target. Nor is it alone. There are plenty of others in the developing world who do not understand why western leaders should try to handicap them when they are undergoing their own industrial revolutions – China and India for a start – and have no intention of getting involved.

The great brains who attended this summit also called for a £179.6 billion fiscal stimulus to haul Europe out of recession. In the good times before the world banking system imploded it was fine for those who wanted to frighten themselves to talk about global warming. It made them feel better when they felt guilty about failing to help African countries wracked by civil strife. Now things are very different. Recession is here, good and proper, and companies are going to have to cut margins...
