All Georgian eyes are on the price of bread. This, so goes the adage, is the staff, (stave or support) of life. Bread is not just a humble, basic food, as the Portuguese artist Ines Amado wrote a few years ago, but even to the irreligious, the symbol of the body itself in its impermanence, transience and fragility. No one in Georgia needs any reminder of the latter!
